Maggie Weber and Susan Samm are professional storytellers – alias StoryRoots.
What We Do.
StoryRoots present Performance Storytelling for young audiences and also StoryRoots lead a range of storytelling based training workshops for early years workers, designed to promote the workers skills and confidence to develop a ‘live storytelling’ ethos in their own settings.

Libraries

StoryRoots
extensive work in libraries across Bedfordshire has featured themed
stories for St. Georges’s Day, Tales From The River Bank,
Nature Stories, Nautical Adventures and Traditional Tales From Around
The World amongst others.
Museums

have been regular storytellers at theme and family days at Stockwood
Park Museum, Luton.

sessions at these regular slots around Bedfordshire and
Buckinghamshire are popular with the under fives.
Primary Schools – StoryRoots regularly perform in schools in Beds, Bucks and Herts. Sessions are tailored to meet the school’s requirements.
Other work includes- Local Groups and Play schemes; Charity Presentations; Leighton Buzzard Canal Festival; Forest Centre, Marston Vale ;BBC Springwatch Event, Bedfordshire; Macintyre celebration party; Adoption UK family days ;work with Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity; Letchworth Art Centre. and many many more….
Adult Storyteller Workshops- StoryRoots regularly lead a series of adult workshops: ‘Breaking Away From Print’. These workshops are in demand as both full and part day workshops, and are becoming increasingly popular with education authorities and individual settings keen to further practitioners storytelling skills.
And also: work in progress!
StoryRoots work with Manor Farm Environmental Centre in Leicestershire. They lead outdoor workshops in Manor Farm’s secluded woodland. The workshops are designed to inspire practitioners to use story and storytelling to enhance children’s experiences outdoors.
