StoryRoots - Maggie - bee man

The Bee Man and The Storyteller present…

HOW DO BEES MAKE HONEY?

Environmental Education.

A project for schools and community groups.

Who are we?

The Storyteller is Maggie.

The Bee Man is Gunter Weber, local beekeeper and a familiar face at farmers markets in and around Milton Keynes area.

What we do?

In response to numerous requests from the general public and teachers in particular, the Bee Man and the Storyteller have developed this interactive workshop. Children learn many fascinating facts about bees, through story, drama and music. The children also have opportunity to handle beekeeping equipment, view an observation hive with live bees, and of course, taste honey!!

During the two hour (key stage 2 sessions) children gain more ‘in- depth’ information and also make a beeswax foundation candle to give as a present to someone.

Target Audience:

These sessions are geared mainly toward early years and primary aged children, and are particularly useful for school settings looking for innovative ways to introduce aspects of the natural world to children.

The sessions can also be presented to community and voluntary groups.

(Currently these sessions are available only in Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire area.)
