Workshop: Using story to promote the language of babies and young children

(half day workshop)

This workshop will be of specific interest to parents, crèche workers, and early year’s practitioners working with babies and very young children. Participants experience how children’s language acquisition and development may be enhanced through the shared experiences of storytelling.

Methods used include

Looking at the language development of babies and young children.

Listening to and engaging in interactive storytelling with material that has appeal to babies and young children.

Song and story activities to help children develop their vocal range and develop vocal muscles.

Using movement, gesture and voice to make meaning clear to babies and young children.
