Workshop: Taking storytelling outdoors

Children need extensive opportunities to engage in environmental activities as a means to promoting their holistic development and to establish their sense of place in the world.

In this ‘one day’ outdoor, energetic, workshop, the facilitators focus on the natural world as a springboard to promote oral storytelling in outdoor spaces.

Methods used include:

Traditional Stories – Using outdoor space to breathe life into these old favourites.

How to explore and utilise outdoor space to maximum effect for story sessions.

Movement, gesture and voice: adapting to working in outdoor spaces.

Spontaneous storytelling through the seasons – activities.
