Workshops

A series of workshops: Breaking Away From Print .

In these interactive workshops participants learn to ‘break away from print’ and explore techniques to present and share oral storytelling sessions with children.

Breaking Away From Print is designed for Early Year’s Practitioners, Foundation Stage and Key Stage One and two teachers, Play therapists, Childminders, Play Workers, After School Club Workers.

Using 'Breaking Away From Print' as the base, further focused workshops enable participants to choose specific aspects of interest to their work.

The ‘Base’ material of Breaking Away From Print includes:

·         Exploring ways to break away from print and become a Storyteller

·         Improvising stories to meet the specific needs of the group or individuals.

·         To enable participants to experience the positive impact that ‘live story telling’ can have on the personal, social and emotional development of children.

·         To demonstrate how storytelling meets and exceeds the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Literacy Strategy.

·         To present participants with a ‘starter pack’ of stories to use in their settings.

·         To learn strategies for encouraging children to become storytellers.

·         Focussed handouts to cover key points – and to source published stories.

  Our workshops include:
